Over the years I’ve racked up some tips that may be useful if you’re planning your first cruise—or even better, have your first cruise booked. Here’s a list of a few food & beverage tips and tricks that I’ve taken advantage of on one of my favorite cruise lines, Carnival. I’m not ashamed to admit that I love to eat (and drink!). We highly suggest that parties of 8 or more guests choose an assigned seating to assure sitting together at one table or several tables close together. Guests may choose from three different dinner seating options. In order to maintain a safe and secure environment, Carnival prohibits certain items on board, such as weapons, candles, irons, alcohol, or other dangerous goods. Carnival conducts security safety scanning of all luggage and if prohibited items are found, they will be removed and disposed of and no compensation will be given.
Cruise Tips That Feel Wrong (But Are 100% Right)
Don’t think you can get around those policies by simply shopping at ports of call. If you pick up a bottle at port, most cruise lines require you to turn it over to their staff, who will store it for you until the ship returns to its final destination. The answer to this question isn’t as simple as it sounds. Which food items you are and aren't allowed to bring on board depends on the food as well as the cruise line. Illegal narcotics/drugs including synthetic, designer drugs, marijuana, cannabis and cannabis derivatives such as Cannabidiol (CBD) items which may be labeled as medical marijuana are not allowed on board.

Although after we are done eating I put all the used plates on the "coffee table". I prefer not to leave them out side the door, just so they aren't in the way of people walking by. The big boxes in the staterooms do not keep perishable products at a temp safe level so I would caution anyone storing food there. The Pizzeria del Capitano on the Lido Deck serves hot slices 24/7 with fresh mozzarella cheese and lots of toppings. I’m not going to lie but I’ve gotten up in the middle of night for a couple of slices.

It’s important to note that Carnival doesn’t allow fresh foods on board, meaning you may not get away with bringing fresh fruits and veggies. What’s more, there would be no refrigeration to preserve fresh foods. However, you can still bring healthy, pre-packaged snacks such as crackers, rice cakes, or nuts. While Carnival Cruise Line prohibits a wide variety of foods from being brought onboard their ships, you are allowed to bring a variety of foods. Never brought the buffet back, but I don't see why not.... We normally stay on the Lido deck and DD and DH will grab Guys and bring it back to enjoy in the room, or on the balcony. You can choose prime New York strip, prime ribeye steak, and filet mignon in the steakhouse but I’m more of a double-cut grilled lamb chops kind of gal. Nope, they brought one for EACH person in our room – so we ended up with a lot of food that we didn’t want/need. Keep in mind that the gratuity for room service is typically extra, so don’t be surprised when you are asked to add gratuity. We are big Food Network fans, so I was excited to try this place out.
